Outline
of the Wired Seminar on Fundraising Fundamentals
1. an overall vision of what we're going to work on
a. a development plan for your organization (not a hypothetical)
i. sample document
ii. input from coach/consultant
b. your professional competencies (some full-time, others part of the job)
i. inventory of where you are (self-assessment)
ii. you decide what you want to concentrate on
2. how we're going to work
a. series of activities & tasks, many of which are things you'd do as part
of preparing your development plan
b. more-or-less continuous feedback & coaching; no evaluation/grades
c. often work in teams of 2 or 3; provides an additional perspective and
generally
enhances learning
d. use e-mail, chat, telephone conferences and phone to communicate;
discuss
the scenario; downloading software & getting comfortable
e. schedule is tentative — we want to push on,
but recognize that some
times
during the year you'll be very busy — but we're going to work in synch
f. option of a live get together part way through,
depending on our geography
g. we encourage you to get acquainted & collaborate;
we expect the community
may outlive the seminar — that some
of you
will stay in touch, as friends as
well as professionals
NOTE:
We do not expect anyone to be really proficient in their use of any
of these computer skills — we're going to
take
is easy and introduce them
carefully and give each participant lots of time
and attention so that they
feel really comfortable about using them. By the
end of the seminar, everyone
will be really, really proficient with a variety
of web-based applications.
